The City of Colorado Springs Xeriscape Demonstration Garden is the focal point for water conservation landscape design in the Pikes Peak Region. The Xeriscape Demonstration Garden illustrates creative and colorful techniques to design, construct, and maintain an attractive landscape that conserves water. The N.E.S. Inc. design team reorganized the site to allow uninterrupted garden space and a flowing sequence of garden areas. The plantings for the garden were chosen for hardiness, color, texture, and water requirements showing that beauty and variety are possible with xeriscape plantings. The orientation, demonstration, and microclimate plazas organize group functions, display xeriscape principles, and allow views to the Garden of the Gods Park and the City of Colorado Springs.
